After some delay, carlytime productions is pleased to present exclusive images from Evridiki's recent visit to London. The 2007 Cypriot entrant played to a delighted crowd at Club Palace on Green Lanes, and Euromoments' very own Carlytime and Mr Thompson were there to capture it on camera for our darling readers (that's us plus noogie - Hello us! We love you long time). After an extended introduction auf Greek (we smiled and clapped when everyone else did) and the presentation of various several bouquets of flowers by eldery gentlemen, we were treated to a performance of this year's entry, Comme ci, comme ça.

There followed a solo set from Dimitris, who looked very lovely (right) and certainly had some dedicated fans in the majority-Cypriot audience.

During Dimitris' solo performance, young Evridiki hopped off the stage and joined the crowd to watch her pal. At this point, your bloggers stopped breathing and began to fizz and pop with excitement, as we were inches away from the star. I have rarely known such delight.


Thankfully, asphyxiation was narrowly avoided as Evri soon took to the stage again with a rendition of some traditional Cypriot song or other. We became quite entranced by her very accomplished a cappella performance, not least for her excellent singing but also as this was the first time we had taken in fresh oxygen in about 6 minutes and it sent us a bit crazy. I think there were about 98 verses in total but I recall 8. The set rounded off with another performance of Comme ci, comme ça to rapturous applause, before Evri and Dimitris were spirited away by their bodyguard and the disco (possibly provided by London Greek Radio?) continued with gusto. Boom!Shake the room! never sounded so good.

After a treat of these proportions, we feel it only fair to give the Official Euromoments Semifinal 2007 vote to: CYPRUS. And we would encourage you to do the same. Thankyou pliz.

French Reactions

The last 10 years? Ortal, if you are reading this: I haven't forgotten you: Thompson Pense à Toi aaaaoooow. Seriously though I do think that Tellier was exciting: not like anything ever to cross a Eurovision stage and even though he sung in English, the whole way team France approached the contest last year was very, well... French. Kaas is the present day embodiment of the Chanson tradition. It is exciting that an artist of such renown has agreed to do this contest with a song of such quality. My first listen gave me echoes of Brel's 'Ne Me Quitte Pas' and the thought that France will leave Moscow with its dignity intact and not as many points as it deserves. I hope the returning juries see that this is not the case. My second thought is, that over my time watching this contest , as well as some real classy chansons (notably the 2001-2002 double) and a few wobbles in the wilderness (see HMSS Naya ) France, possibly more than any other country has had a knack for throw
